Anyway, I remember where I was 8 years ago. I was in English class, and my teacher told us “When you go home today, the world around you will be completely different.” I had no idea what he was talking about. I thought, could it be something about the new mayor (Michael Bloomberg was just being elected in the primaries that morning)? None of us knew what was up, but we knew that one by one each of us was getting called out of our classes.
So I was in my math class, about 45 minutes later. Don’t remember what time it was, but I remember I got called to the main office. My mom was there and she told me straight up with no bullshit that the World Trade Center and the Pentagon had been attacked and I was being taken out of class. Right then I felt this weird reaction; I have no idea where it stemmed from. I laughed. It was tough to believe, maybe that’s why. I watched it over and over on the news, and recorded the news reports on the VCR (remember that device, kiddies?).
I had 9/11 fever (something Rudy Guliani never seems to have gotten rid of).
As with everything, fires die down. I have friends who lost family members in the attacks. One girl I sat next to in chemistry class lost her father in the towers. I guess it’ll never fully go away in her mind, but one moves on.
Anyway, I just thought I’d give my two cents on what it was like for me. What was it like for you?

Yes this moment was extremely life changing
